Progressive Tracks Show #264 (SeaProg Festival Wrap-Up #6), originally broadcast on Saturday, June 2, 2018, is now available to download or listen to anytime you desire.

There are two kinds of people in this world:  Those who attended SeaProg 2018 this past weekend… and those who did not.  But both groups will find something to like about this show which features 14 SeaProg artists.

If you attended, you’ll be able to relive some of the fonder memories you’ve ever had while depriving yourself of sleep at a music event (the artists were truly that great, weren’t they?).

And if you missed SeaProg 2018, you still have an excellent opportunity to get a ‘crash course’ in all things SeaProg… y’know, to help you decide to reserve the first weekend in June 2019 for the next Seattle Festival of Avant and Progressive Rock.  Yes, there will be one; yes, you should attend!

With this installment, the SeaProg 2018 Progressive Tracks Show Series is complete.  Now if you’ll excuse me… I’m going to go get some sleep.     ;o)

Progressive Tracks Show #258 (SeaProg Festival Preview #1), originally broadcast on Saturday, April 21, 2018, is now available to download or listen to anytime you desire.

Oh boy, oh boy! It’s that time of year when the sweet strains of Avant Prog fill the streets of Seattle… or at least the streets in the Columbia City neighborhood.

And as is tradition (5 years is tradition, right?), The Progressive Tracks Show is uniquely poised to prepare you for the experience that is The Seattle Festival of Avant and Progressive Rock (SeaProg) 2018.

The plan is to feature a few SeaProg bands each week leading to the festival’s start on June 1st. And this year you’ll hear a bit from the artists themselves… mini ‘interviews’ if you will… that will give you a welcome break from all my talking.     ;o)

This week we’ll highlight some bands from this region that will impress! Are you up for that? If so… go grab your old SeaProg t-shirt from the closet and your favorite beverage from the fridge, sit back, and prepare to be prepared.

Progressive Tracks Show #242 (Best of Prog – 2017), originally broadcast on Friday, December 29, 2017, is now available to download or listen to anytime you desire.

2017 was another fantastic year for Prog.  Any arguments?   I didn’t think so.

I haven’t actually done a full-blown ‘best-of’ show in years, but instead I’ve given out awards in self-created categories so as not to contradict other DJ’s.  This year is different; I’ll play tracks from my personally-selected Top 10 albums (playing different tracks from any I played on previous shows), including the one I consider the Best Prog Album of 2017.

PLAYLIST (NOT in numerical order):

  • Vespero – “Hapi” from Shum-Shir on Tonzonen Records
  • Charlie Cawood – “Garden of the Mind” from The Divine Abstract on Bad Elephant Music
  • Nova Collective – “The Further Side” from The Further Side on Metal Blade Records
  • Trojan Horse – “Sickle Cell Orphan” from Fukushima Surfer Boys on Bad Elephant Music
  • Bubblemath – “Perpetual Notion” from Edit Peptide on Cuneiform Records
  • Gentle Knife – “Fade Away” from Clock Unwound – Gentle Knife II on Bajkal Records
  • Kotebel – “Paradise Lost” from Cosmology on Musea
  • Amplifier – “Horse” from Trippin’ With Dr. Faustus on BEM
  • Diablo Swing Orchestra – “Superhero Jugganath” from Pacifisticuffs on Candlelight Records
  • Universal Totem Orchestra – “Terra Cava” from Mathematical Mother on Black Widow Records

This week’s Prog-Watch is our semi-annual collaboration with some of the merry reviewers at The Progressive Aspect, bringing you some of the best Prog Rock releases this year! We’ll hear short reviews and sample music from ten of the best albums of 2017, as suggested by Mel Allen, Tony Colvill, Shawn Dudley, Rob Fisher, Jez Rowden, Roger Trenwith, and Leo Trimming. I’ll also pick a favorite of my own, and run down the whole list of albums which were nominated, but not represented on the show. (We do only have 90 minutes, and more than 30 albums were suggested!) So join me this week for a year-end round-up of some of the best new music released this year in our favorite genre!
