The Progressive Tracks Show #330 (It’s A Tough Business, This Prog)

NOTE: WORLD PREMIERE SONG on this week’s show!

Progressive Rock artists face a myriad of obstacles in creating the music we listeners love and enjoy. This week we’ll hear some of this absolutely stellar music… while I point out some things that make it seem like I understand their struggles (even though I can’t play a note). Oh well, at least the music will be stellar, including that world premiere from one of Zeuhl’s greatest artists!

And remember, you can access podcasts of any previous Progressive Tracks Show at: http://www.progzilla.com/?s=progressive+tracks (there are over 165 podcasts now!).

Tatsuya Yoshida and Zeuhl masters, Koenjihyakkei, will soon present an updated version of their classic “Angherr Shisspa” album, complete with live tracks from a 2005 concert in Japan.  “Angherr Shisspa Revisited” is scheduled for release later this month.

Progzilla Radio has the honor of premiering one of these live tracks, “Rattims Friezz”, to the world on our web page and on this week’s edition of The Progressive Tracks Show (#330), hosted by Mike “ProgTracks” Pollack.

Rattims Friezz” was performed at The Doors club in Hatsudai, Japan on 7 August 2005, and emphatically proves the ability of the band to play their exacting music in a live setting.

Thymme Jones and Chicago’s long-time, genre-bending chameleons, Cheer-Accident, have contributed two new songs to the new Skin Graft Records compilation, “Post Now: Round One – Chicago vs. New York”, that is scheduled for release later this month.

Progzilla Radio has the honor of premiering one of these tracks, “Site”, to the world on our web page and on The Progressive Tracks Show hosted by Mike “ProgTracks” Pollack.

Written decades ago but never recorded, “Site” recalls the guitar stylings of Cheer-Accident’s late guitarist, Phil Bonnet, who was responsible for the distinct sounds on classic albums like “Salad Days” and “Trading Balloons”.

Track Artists:

Carmen Armillas – vocals
Jeff Libersher- electric and acoustic guitars
Thymme Jones – backing-vocals, bass synth, drums, keys
Scott Rutledge – words
Todd Rittmann – mastering

Post Now: Round One – Chicago vs. New York”, pits several forward-thinking bands from Chicago and New York in a musical battle for supremacy.  The compilation, featuring rare and exclusive songs, is due for release on Skin Graft Records on 15 March 2019, and is available through Bandcamp in digital download and compact disc formats at this site:
