SOTO, the modern Heavy Metal / Hard Rock group featuring vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (ex Yngwie Malmsteen / Talisman / ex Journey, Sons Of Apollo, TSO, etc.), recently announced signing a new worldwide deal with InsideOutMusic.

Now they are pleased to reveal their new, third studio album ‘Origami‘ which will be released May 24th, 2019, and to celebrate they have launched the records first Single.

Watch the lyric video (Created by Cloud Music Typography) for ‘BeLie‘ now here:
https://youtu.be/WyndXHNFaqM

SOTO comment about “BeLie“ from JSS as follows: “This is a song co-written with a long time collaborator of mine in Brazil, Leo Mancini, along with my drummer Edu Cominato. It had a very ‘Operation Mindcrime’ vibe to it musically when they presented me with the song so I knew I had to really think outside the box in making it not sound like a Queensryche song in the end. I love the middle section as it presents our new bassist, Tony Dickinson, to the world as a much needed entity in the band after losing our boy David Z. It serves as a great launching pad for ‘Origami’.”

‘Origami’ will be released as a limited digipak CD with a set of 3 stickers and a bonus track, 180g vinyl LP including the entire album on CD, and as digital download. The album comes packaged with classy artwork by Gustavo Sazes (Machine Head, Amaranthe, Arch Enemy).
Pre-order now here: https://SOTO.lnk.to/Origami

The full track-listing of ’Origami‘ is as follows:

  1. HyperMania
  2. Origami
  3. BeLie
  4. World Gone Colder
  5. Detonate
  6. Torn
  7. Dance With The Devil
  8. AfterGlow
  9. Vanity Lane
  10. Give In To Me
  11. KMAG * (Bonus Track)

SOTO started in 2015 derived from the ideal of Jeff Scott Soto wanting to return to his heavier
roots. So far they released 2 albums, “Inside The Vertigo“ (2015) and “DIVAK“ (2016), taking a short break while Jeff embarked on the supergroup Sons Of Apollo, alongside Mike Portnoy, Derek Sherinian, Billy Sheehan and Bumblefoot.

Now SOTO are returning under the same umbrella as Sons Of Apollo, signing with InsideOutMusic. The new album “Origami“ contains material that continues to expand and move the band towards new heights whilst following up with their brand of Power Rock.

SOTO will hit South America for live dates in May and intend to be touring worldwide throughout 2019 following the release of the new album.

The Mute Gods, featuring Nick Beggs (Steven Wilson, Steve Hackett), Roger King (Steve Hackett) & Marco Minnemann (The Aristocrats, The Sea Within), are set to release their third studio album ‘Atheists and Believers’ on the 22nd March 2019.

Today they launch a video for the track ‘One Day’, which features Alex Lifeson of Rush as guest, and you can watch the clip here: https://youtu.be/9oO4PQDemQE

Nick comments: “Possibly my favourite Mute Gods song so far? I hope you enjoy it too. If not, Jog on.

Watch Nick & Roger sit down to discuss the new album over a pint at the pub in these two new interview clips.
Part 1: https://youtu.be/lMaZFsLhfII
Part 2: https://youtu.be/6DDgFsSKjBY

Listen to the album’s title track here: https://youtu.be/yCMGNS9XmuE

‘Atheists and Believers’ is featured as the lead review in the latest issue of Prog Magazine where they comment that the band “make the incredible sound accessible”.

Arriving just over 2 years after its predecessor ‘Tardigrades Will Inherit The Earth’, Beggs once again turns his attention to the state of the world as we know it now, focussing on universal topics such as politics, humanity & love over the course of 10 tracks that run from turbulent rock compositions to more sentimental pieces of music.

Nick comments: “The album’s key message is that we now empower stupid people and don’t listen to educated, informed experts anymore because truth is no longer fashionable.”

For ‘Atheists and Believers’, Beggs has enlisted some very special guests, including Alex Lifeson, Rush’s legendary guitarist; Craig Blundell, renowned drummer currently playing with Steven Wilson’s band; multi-instrumentalist Rob Townsend with whom Beggs worked in Steve Hackett’s band and his vocalist daughter, Lula Beggs.

‘Atheists and Believers’ will be released on Limited CD Digipak, Gatefold 180g 2LP + CD & as a digital album. Pre-order now here: https://themutegods.lnk.to/AtheistsAndBelievers

You can find the full track-listing below:
1. Atheists and Believers
2. One Day
3. Knucklehead
4. Envy the Dead
5. Sonic Boom
6. Old Men
7. The House Where Love Once Lived
8. Iridium Heart
9. Twisted World, Godless Universe
10. I Think Of You

The Mute Gods is the musical vehicle Beggs created in 2015 to channel his song writing. It was conceived while he was embarking on an intensive period of almost continuous touring, firstly with former Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett and then latterly, Steven Wilson, the prolific, widely-acclaimed composer, musician and record producer with whom Beggs still records and tours.

Beggs’ career spans nearly four decades, working with artists across a broad musical spectrum. Bassist, stick player, composer and vocalist, Beggs has sold more than three million records with his own groups, including Kajagoogoo, as well as contributing to genres such as pop, rock, funk, soul, Celtic and latterly, progressive rock.

Among the artists with whom he has collaborated are rock and pop legends John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), Belinda Carlisle, Kim Wilde, Gary Numan, Seal and Engelbert Humperdink, as well as progressive rock’s Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman, Iona and Lifesigns.

Alongside Beggs in The Mute Gods are his regular collaborators Roger King and Marco Minnemann. King is the keyboards player, guitarist and producer of Atheists and Believers, and Steve Hackett’s right-hand man for more than 20 years. Minneman, who has also played with Joe Satriani, is regarded as one of rock’s most exciting drummers and has worked with Beggs on Wilson tours and recordings.

Canadian heavy music artist Devin Townsend is set to release his forthcoming new album ‘EMPATH’ on the 29th March 2019, and today sees the launch of the second single from the album. Watch the video for ‘Evermore’ here: https://youtu.be/-zIxPUPWVq8

Devin comments:

So with the release of Empath fast approaching, and people having had various chances to hear the album, the reactions are pretty much what I expected: Those interested in the more artistic and free form side of what I do really seem to like and understand it, and those looking for the more commercial or rocking side of what I do are maybe not so convinced 🙂

The initial plan was to release a more commercial song next (the sole one on the album, ‘Spirits Will Collide’) but the video we’ve been working on for that is hilariously ambitious and we needed a bit more time. Therefore, we opted to release this song, ‘Evermore’, as a way to bridge that gap. It’s slightly in the same vein as Genesis on some level I suppose, but a little more groovy and a bit less fractured in terms of structure.

The lyrics are not as much about a bored space cat crash landing on ‘planet fear’ in a literal sense, but I guess that’s easier to articulate with visuals at this stage than ‘yet another song about trying to work through one’s own mid-life bullshit to find some sense of self-actualization’, though perhaps with more time, it will resonate further with that. Thanks to Wayne, Josh and Miles for the tag team animations.

The drums on this particular track are all Anup Sastry, (who is a great guy who loves his dog) and the Elektra choir helps out a lot again. I’ve got a strange relationship with singing at this stage of my career so I really appreciated the support.

I encourage you, (if you like this sort of stuff, that is) to check it out in headphones. There’s a fair amount of candy in this song I spent a long time on. I think it’s streaming now too…

Thank you sincerely. The album is meant to be of some help in a weird way.

Dev”

In the lead up to the album’s release, Devin is walking fans through how ‘EMPATH’ came together with a series of documentary episodes recorded as phone conversations during the course of the albums recording. Watch the first episode of that series here: https://youtu.be/y4sJ8odko2Y

Two days prior to the release of ‘EMPATH’, on 27th March, a special cinema screening of the documentary will take place in London at the Everyman Screen on the Green. Devin will be in attendance to give a live commentary to the film, and to answer fans questions afterwards. Tickets for this special event are now sold out.

Over the past few years, the success that Devin has slowly worked for has fortunately come with the power to control his own creative destiny. The recent successes with the DVD from a sold-out Royal Albert hall, or his 2012 ‘Retinal Circus’, or last year’s ‘Ocean Machine’ live DVD with the Orchestra and Choir of State Opera Plovdiv has put him in a position where with the new album ‘EMPATH’, he will once and for all define himself as a musical force outside of any particular genre classification.

On this album Devin has decided to see what would happen if all the styles that make up his current interests were finally represented in one place. To finally shake the fear of expectation, and just do what it is he was meant to do creatively, ‘EMPATH’, true to the name, is about allowing the audience a feeling for a variety of musical emotions. The musical dynamics represented on this single album are broad, challenging, and immense. To approach this sort of work with a long history of what makes heavy music ‘heavy’, allows this to be done with a type of power rarely heard.

Joining Devin on this album is Frank Zappa alumni Mike Keneally as music director, as well as Morgan Ågren (Mats And Morgan, Frank Zappa, Fredrik Thordendal), Anup Sastry (Monuments, Periphery), Samus Paulicelli (Decrepit Birth, Abigail Williams), Nathan Navarro, Elliot Desagnes, Steve Vai, Chad Kroeger, Anneke Van Giersbergen, Ché Aimee Dorval, Ryan Dhale and the Elektra Women’s Choir.

A bold statement with massive production values and dynamic, uncompromised musicality. This is a statement about not only pursuing creative freedom in a conservative scene, but also trying to show that heavy music is truly a valid musical tool.

‘EMPATH’ will be released on Limited 2 CD Digipak in O-Card (including an entire disc of bonus material), Standard CD Jewelcase, Gatefold 180G 2LP Vinyl + CD + LP-booklet & as digital album. Pre-order now here: https://devin-townsend.lnk.to/Empath

Banco del Mutuo Soccorso (which translates to “Bank of Mutual Relief”) were formed in Rome, Italy back in 1969 and under the influence of British greats Gentle Giant, Genesis, Jethro Tull and Emerson, Lake & Palmer forged a truly original sound equally complex, melodic and dynamic. In 2019, ‘Transiberiana’ will prove that this style is very much intact and creative mastermind Vittorio Nocenzi promises an “autobiographical journey” lyrically, musically and in terms of concept. ‘Transiberiana’ is not only an impressive new album by Banco del Mutuo Soccorso, but also reflects upon a storied career and redefines what the group is all about.

Swedish alternative rockers PORT NOIR recently announced the release of their new album, ‘The New Routine’ on the 10th May 2019, their first for InsideOutMusic and the beginning of a new sound for the band.

Today they are pleased to launch new single ‘Young Bloods’, the second track to be taken from the album. Watch the video here: https://youtu.be/57iP20jBEh8

The band comments: “Gritty bass backed up by thrashing drums builds the core in this loop-oriented banger. Keeping the foundation of the song simple but resolute, letting the minimalism intensify as it advances. Young Bloods has a strong rhythmic arrangement but it’s in the melodies, the atmosphere and the dynamics one can truly feel its entirety.”

The new album sees the trio blending old-school rock with contemporary pop, R&B and hip-hop in a creative and minimalistic fashion. Inspired by bands such as Rage Against the Machine, Death from Above 1979, The Weeknd, Daft Punk, Queens of the Stone Age, ‘The New Routine’ is direct, energetic and intense.

‘The New Routine’ will be available as CD, LP + CD & as digital album, and is now available to pre-order here: https://PortNoir.lnk.to/TheNewRoutine

Consisting of Love Andersson (bass, vocals), AW Wiberg (drums) and Andreas Hollstrand (guitar, keys and backing vocals) they’re a band that’s been around since 2011. During the years they’ve toured and played extensively through Europe supporting In Flames, Pain of Salvation, and Karnivool to name a few.

Their last album ‘Any Way The Wind Carries’ was released in 2016, with Metal Hammer UK commenting that it combined “aching melody with shuddering depth.” Recorded with Daniel Bergstrand, at a small mountain village in southern Spain instead of their native Sweden, ‘Any Way the Wind Carries’ was another bold statement from a band that defies pigeonholing in favour of embracing a vast array of influences and distilling these into smartly arranged, concise songs.

Fans voted the 1999 Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory the “Number One All-Time Progressive Rock Album” in a 2012 Rolling Stone poll. Not to mention, it ranked as the “15th Greatest Concept Album” by Classic Rock. 2009 saw Black Clouds & Silver Linings crash the Billboard Top 200 at #6 as A Dramatic Turn of Events [2011] and Dream Theater [2013] maintained a three-peat in the chart’s Top 10. Norwegian progressive rockers LEPROUS have started recordings for their 6th studio album, expected to be released later in 2019 via InsideOutMusic.

LEPROUS recently entered the studio to record drums and Baard Kolstad checked in with this comment:

We entered the studio to record the drums for half of the album last week with David Castillo @ Ghostward/Fascination Street Studios, same studio as we recorded the 2 latest studio albums. As an over autistic control freak I am when recording myself, this time around I had more time than ever to perfectionise and experiment with my sound almost without compromises, so a big thanks to Einar and David for their patience!

We also recorded 1 song together, drums and bass, something neither LEPROUS or I have ever done before. Feeling very good to leave the drum recording for now, focusing on the last half of the album to be recorded in May. I’m so looking forward to hear the outcome just in a few days when the guitarists have put their touch. Will be a different LEPROUS album for sure, but still LEPROUS!”

The Mute Gods, featuring Nick Beggs (Steven Wilson, Steve Hackett), Roger King (Steve Hackett) & Marco Minnemann (The Aristocrats, The Sea Within), have announced the release of their third studio album ‘Atheists and Believers’ for 22nd March 2019.

Watch Nick & Roger sit down to discuss the new album over a pint at the pub in this new interview clip: https://youtu.be/lMaZFsLhfII

Listen to the album’s title track here: https://youtu.be/yCMGNS9XmuE

Swedish alternative rockers PORT NOIR are pleased to announce the release of their new album, ‘The New Routine’ on the 10th May 2019, their first for InsideOutMusic and the beginning of a new sound for the band.

The band comments: “We went back to the music we grew up with and tried to find out what got us into playing in a band in the first place and fused it with the music that inspires us today. The result is our best album yet. It’s The New Routine.

‘The New Routine’ will be available as CD, LP + CD & as digital album, and the track-listing is as follows:

1. Old Fashioned
2. Flawless
3. Blow
4. Champagne
5. Low Lights
6. 13
7. Young Bloods
8. Define Us
9. Drive
10. Down For Delight
11. Out Of Line

Watch the video for the track ‘Old Fashioned’ (the album’s opening track) here: https://youtu.be/tZ6BiRnTol8
