Dark alt/rock rock artist The Black Atlas releases “Equinox” from his upcoming EP, Equinox. Prog Sphere brings you an exclusive premiere of the song (listen below).
The Black Atlas‘ founder Peter Koronios commented: ”‘Equinox‘ represents the final stage of transformation that this particular story will tell, touching lyrically on the realization of the necessity of presence, hopefulness, and mental clarity. It’s not meant to be entirely final, since transformation is a recurring process, and all things are in a constant state of flux and repetition, but the door is now open. The character has found their compass, the stage is set for further conscious evolution.“
The eponymous third and “final” chapter in The Equinox EP series, Equinox, was produced and recorded by Jesse Clasen (Foreign Air/ex-HRVRD), with guest performances by Jesse Clasen, Ally Hoffman (MTHR), and Ian Hendrickson-Smith (The Roots/Tonight Show Band).
After having lent his drumming skills to various touring artists and appearances at Warped Tour with Testing for Echo, The Black Atlas was formed by Peter Koronios’ independent vision in 2013. Drawing on the heaviness of Dredg and Queens of the Stone Age, vocal baritone of The National and ethereal qualities of Pink Floyd, The Black Atlas has released two EP’s, The Other and Devils. On the final installment of the Equinox series, The Black Atlas explores the final stages of a conscious transformation of a troubled mind, bringing the conceptual project to a close. The songs were written, arranged and performed by Peter Koronios and the artwork was completed by Colin Frangicetto (Circa Survive).
The Black Atlas will be heading out on a national tour, returning home and performing at Saint Vitus in Brooklyn and showcasing “brooding, dark, beautiful sounds.” (Diffuser.fm) Stay tuned as The Black Atlas releases more material throughout the Spring.
