Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy & Randy George recently announced their return to the Cover To Cover series of albums with ‘Cov3r To Cov3r’, the brand new third instalment. Featuring their renditions of classic tracks by the likes of King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Gerry Rafferty, David Bowie & more (including their cover of ‘No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed’ featuring vocals from Yes singer Jon Davison), the album will be released on the 24th July as CD, Gatefold 2LP + CD & as Digital Album.

Today they are pleased to reveal a video for their cover of ‘It Don’t Come Easy’, originally by Ringo Starr, and you can watch it now here: https://youtu.be/bdWuYRmstRI

Mike Portnoy comments: “Having done solo Beatles covers from both Paul (Maybe I’m Amazed) and George (What Is Life) on the 1st Cover To Cover, it was time to represent Ringo this time around…

I had the honor of singing the lead vocals on this one and am so proud to have none other than my daughter Melody doing the backing vocals mark-ing our first daddy & daughter duet!! And totally appropriate for it to be a Beatles-related song as she’s just as much of a Beatles fanatic as I am!

The band previously released a video of their cover of Gerry Rafferty’s classic ‘Baker Street’. Watch it now here: https://youtu.be/IszlXuQ99Fo

As well as ‘Cov3r to Cov3r’, the ‘Cover To Cover Anthology (Vol. 1 – 3)’ will be released on the same day, collecting all 3 instalments together over 3 discs. The first two albums have also been newly re-sequenced and remastered, and will also be available on digital services. The albums have also been given brand new artwork, created by Thomas Ewerhard (Sons of Apollo, The Neal Morse Band, Avantasia).

‘Cov3r to Cov3r’ on Jewelcase CD & Gatefold 2LP + CD, and ‘Cover to Cover Anthology (Vol.1-3) on Limited 3CD Digipak are now available to pre-order here:

Morse, Portnoy & George first worked together on Neal Morse’s Testimony Live project back in 2003, and since then they have devised and recorded countless Neal Morse albums, including three with The Neal Morse Band.

The three friends have also released music as Morse, Portnoy & George: so far, two Cover to Cover albums have been produced, each being a collection of covers of their favorite songs. As Portnoy explains: “One of the first things myself, Neal and Randy usually start talking about what we can cover when we gather for one of Neal’s solo albums, should we have some leftover time at the end of the session. Most of the songs are rooted in the 60s and 70s and are songs / bands we grew up with.” Explains George, “We all share an attachment for this era of music, so we each throw out song ideas, see what sticks, and record the ones we like the most!”

The trio has covered songs from such greats as, Paul McCartney, Cream, The Who, Jethro Tull, Steely Dan, and many more. They also have also covered some prog classics from the likes of King Crimson and Yes.

Charlie Barnes, touring multi-instrumentalist with the hugely successful British act Bastille, follows up his 2018 album ‘Oceanography’, with the 10-track collection ‘Last Night’s Glitter’ – set for release on the 3rd July 2020.

Watch the lyric video for the album’s title track here: https://youtu.be/0AhQ7ylZHv0

Recorded and mixed in his home studio, it features new stripped-back arrangements of tracks from his aforementioned previous album, as well as 2015’s ‘More Stately Mansions’, complete with woodwind, brass & string flourishes from the likes of Jonny Abraham & Rittipo (Public Service Broadcasting, Bastille) & more. Closing out the album is a brand new piece, and the record’s title track, a piece of music that Charlie describes as “the kind of song where a writer manages to translate exactly where and who they are at a certain time into a handful of verses.”

Charlie comments of the collection:
This album, which was supposed to be a couple of throwaway bonus tracks, or a swiftly turned around EP, or a handful of live session videos to help point people, and their wallets, in the direction of its predecessor, has taken me far longer to make than it should have done. So long, in fact, that I no longer see it as a standard issue piece of promotional material, but a body of work that I hope will come to hold its own amongst my repertoire.

The full track-listing is as follows, and the album will be available digitally from the 3rd July. Pre-save the album and listen to the first single here:
https://CharlieBarnes.lnk.to/LastNightsGlitter

1. Sing To God (Intro)
2. All I Have

Charlie’s previous album ‘Oceanography’ was released in 2018, following 2 years on the road with Bastille. Watch the video for the video for the track ‘All I Have’ here: https://youtu.be/C_oSzAHLGwc

“Far more than someone else’s second fiddle, Charlie’s ready for the limelight” – Dork Magazine

“Despite how accomplished this album is, there are still abundant hints that this is still not him at the peak of his powers. Who knows where he’ll go next.” – Prog Magazine

“an album full of twists and turns, which includes sonic nods to influences ranging from Oceansize and Amplifier to Queen and Muse.” – Total Guitar

“Barnes utilises dynamic shifts and sinewy layers to sculpt a rock-solid, emotional track that zaps you in the chest”– The Line Of Best Fit

Swedish multi-instrumentalist Rikard Sjöblom is pleased to announce his new album under the Gungfly moniker, ‘Alone Together’. Set for release on the 4th September 2020, it follows extremely productive past few years, whether it be working with English progressive rockers Big Big Train, or taking the lead with Gungfly.

Rikard comments: “I started writing these songs about a year ago but then it took some time to get started with the production because I had two tours lined up, one with Big Big Train in November and then opening solo for The Flower Kings on their European tour in December. After that my focus shifted back to Gungfly and it felt really nice so it all came together pretty fast!

‘Alone Together’ saw Gungfly recording as a trio, with brothers and previous collaborators Petter and Rasmus Diamant on drums and bass respectively. “It was a lot of fun playing both keyboards and guitar because I had come up with a lot of nice parts but I knew early on that I wanted to make the album with the brothers on drums and bass – luckily they were very up for it!

This ‘power-trio’ have focussed on the rock this time, and you can hear that loud and clear: “I didn’t want to smother the production with layers upon layers of keyboards and bells and whistles but instead tried to keep it prog rock with the focus on ROCK. I wanted every instrument to mean something in the mix.” This is evident on tracks like ‘Happy Somewhere In Between’ and the 13-minute epic ‘Traveler’, where Gungfly have never hit harder.

‘Alone Together’ will be available as a Limited CD Digipak (with 2 bonus tracks), Gatefold 2LP + CD & as Digital Album. The album cover features a painting by American artist Kevin Sloan (The Flower Kings). Rikard comments of the piece: “I had just written lyrics for the song ‘From Afar’ and was looking at Kevin’s paintings when I came across this one and I couldn’t believe the connection, particularly the lyric “A million eyes watching glimpses of each other’s lives””.

The full track-listing for the album is as follows:
1. Traveler
2. Happy Somewhere In Between
3. Clean as a Whistle
4. Alone Together
5. From Afar
6. On The Shoulders Of Giants
7. Grove Thoughts (Bonus Track)
8. Shoulder Variations (Bonus Track)

Rikard Sjöblom is perhaps best known as the multi-instrumentalist frontman of Beardfish, who established themselves as one of the most consistently brilliant modern-day progressive rock bands over the course of eight studio albums. In recent years, he has also become known for his work with English progressive collective Big Big Train, playing live with them as well as performing on their recent studio albums.

LONG DISTANCE CALLING, Germany’s most internationally successful instrumental rock act, recently are set to release their seventh studio album ‘How Do We Want To Live?’ on the 26th June 2020

Today the band launch the 3rd and final track to be released prior to the albums release, and you can watch the video for ‘Immunity’ here: https://youtu.be/fT9pNGHKdLw

The band comments:

Please check out the 3rd single of our upcoming new record “How Do We Want To Live”.
The song is called ‘Immunity’ and we hope you’ll enjoy this tune as much as we do!
The video is very special for us. Some of the footage was shot by our community during the Covid19 pandemic.
Many thanks to all the talented filmmakers out there. On one hand the video deals with the fact, that the digital world we are living in has so much to offer as we are able to communicate with people from all over the world and share important information.
On the other hand all the technology and digital platforms are being misused to spread lies, hate, weird conspiracies.
Of course we are an instrumental band. But that cannot stop us from shouting against racism, xenophobia, homophobia and all that bullshit that is going on during these strange times right now.
So let us use this technical progress and this crisis to make this world a better place!
Big thanx and shout out to producer David Gregory and his team, who did a great job to make this video possible!

‘Immunity’ video credits:
Produced by Cineoteric Films

Guitarist Sam Vallen comments of the new album: “Rise Radiant is the album we’ve been working towards for almost a decade. It represents everything we love about Caligula’s Horse – the colour, the ferocity, the introspection, the extremes – all tied up together in a way we could never have managed until now. As a band, we’ve never felt tighter, more inspired, or more driven than in the creation of this record. We’re tremendously proud of Rise Radiant, and we can’t wait for you to hear it!

‘Rise Radiant’ is an uncompromising exploration of the human experience dressed in vivid musical colour and virtuosic performances. It is an anthem for the regeneration of self-belief, an exploration of the themes of legacy, and a rallying cry for survival. Comprised of 8 tracks, ‘Rise Radiant’ is be available as a limited CD Digipak, Gatefold 2LP + CD & as digital download. The formats also include 2 bonus tracks, covers of the Split Enz track ‘Message To My Girl’ & Peter Gabriel’s ‘Don’t Give Up’, which also features a guest appearance by Lynsey Ward of Exploring Birdsong. About Steve Hackett
Steve Hackett is renowned as an immensely talented and innovative rock musician. He was lead guitarist with Genesis as part of their classic line up with Gabriel, Collins, Banks and Rutherford, who produced several of the band’s most acclaimed albums including “Selling England by the Pound” (a favourite of John Lennon) and “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway”. With Steve’s extraordinary versatility in both his electric guitar playing and his composing, he involves influences from many genres, including Jazz, World Music and Blues. He is equally adept in his classical albums that include renditions of pieces by composers from Bach to Satie, his own acoustic guitar compositions that have gained the admiration of many, including Yehudi Menuhin, and ambitious guitar/orchestra albums such as “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, recorded with the Royal Philharmonic.

His most recent studio album is 2019’s “At the Edge of Light”, which was met with critical acclaim and charted in several countries all around the world including #13 in Germany, #3 UK Rock charts, #28 UK album charts, #7 UK vinyl charts, #12 Sweden Physical Album Charts and more. While keeping a continuous studio output for several decades, Steve Hackett has been presenting classic Genesis tracks with his live band offering stunning renditions preserving the vibe and unique spirit of the original, early Genesis era.
