InsideOutMusic are set to release the self-titled debut album from Philadelphia- duo Rise Twain on September 6th, 2019. The union of Brett William Kull (producer, audio engineer, and member of Echolyn, Grey Eye Glances, and Francis Dunnery’s New Progressives) and J.D. Beck (The Scenic Route, Beck-Fields, author & playwright) bring their collective years of direct and varied experience in writing, performing and recording music together for their impressive debut.

Today they launch the 3rd single, and final preview track, titled ‘Oh This Life’ and you can listen to it now here: https://youtu.be/XUWr1Vyg180

The band comments: “Sometimes a complete song appears and is constructed as if it was always here; the songwriter just a conduit to allow its declaration into being.

“Oh This Life” is a song at our most immediate – available to intimate observation, confession, and creativity.”

The album is also now available to pre-order on Limited CD Digipak, 180g Black Vinyl LP + CD & as digital album here: https://risetwain.lnk.to/RiseTwain

The track-listing is as follows:

1.     Everspring
2.     Golden
3.     The Range
4.     Lit Up
5.     Death of Summer
6.     Oh This Life
7.     Prayers
8.     Falling Skies
9.     Into A Dream
10.  That Is Love

Talking of how the duo came together: “I produced an album for J.D.’s original band, The Scenic Route”, says Kull, describing his first meeting with Beck in 2007. “They were a rocky, progressive kind of band, like a Jeff Buckley kind of thing. I was immediately drawn to his vocals. He’s such a strong singer.” Kull says he and Beck immediately hit it off, what he describes as an “inevitable connection.”

Adds Beck, “I just knew I had to work with Brett on a higher level. When I came in to cut the vocals on the Scenic Route album, the way we worked together…some people you just gel with, and then some people you have a barrier with. Brett and I gelled.” They spoke of one day collaborating on their own project, which finally surfaces as Rise Twain.

Discussing the album’s musical direction, Beck notes, “There’s not a typical structural theme that we use over and over and over. ‘Organic’ is a word that comes to mind. Seeking openness through simplicity and allowing the complexity of music to exist without the necessity of overly packing it or overly processing it. With that we were able to achieve such a broad spectrum of sound, and a colossal sense of its existence, without having to have a billion guitars and a billion things put over top. There’s some colouring with strings and other embellishments, but it really is something very simple and stripped down, and it’s awesome.”

Kull adds, “There’s a lot of complexity in this, but it’s not overt in the least bit. But yet, when you get into it, there’s all this really rich harmonic and dynamic stuff going on.”

German instrumental-rock group LONG DISTANCE CALLING are pleased to announce their first ever live album ‘STUMMFILM – Live from Hamburg (A Seats & Sounds Show)’, scheduled for release on the 1st November 2019 through InsideOutMusic. Filmed during a special run of dates in early 2019, it saw the band performing seated shows in some very special locations for a stunning experience. The band comments: “We are happy to unveil our first ever live album ‘STUMMFILM – Live From Hamburg’ which we recorded on the ‘Seats & Sounds’ tour earlier this year. After more than ten years on the road, we felt it’s more than about time to do a proper live album. We are very satisfied with the result, a lot of atmosphere, energy as well as some nice surprises have been captured at Kulturkirche Altona in Hamburg. We can’t wait to share this beautiful experience with you! Love LDC” To celebrate the announcement, the band have launched a live clip of the track ‘Black Paper Planes’, and you can watch that now here: https://youtu.be/sFAf3ugFeGI ‘STUMMFILM – Live from Hamburg (A Seats & Sounds Show)’ will be available as a limited edition Blu-Ray + 2CD, Gatefold 3LP Vinyl & as digital audio download. Pre-order now here: https://LongDistanceCalling.lnk.to/STUMMFILM-LiveFromHamburg

The full track-listing is as follows:

For 13 years now, the Münster-based four-piece Long Distance Calling has been famed and cherished for its weightless yet massive music. After having returned to their instrumental roots Long Distance Calling sat down to carefully ponder their next step. When they got up again, they were ready for their most extraordinary live undertaking yet: Aptly entitled “Seats & Sounds”, this string of concerts saw Long Distance Calling take to the stage in very special locations in front on a seated audience. The band took the matter almost religiously and went to great lengths in pulling off their most daring effort. “We wanted to go one step further, highlighting the audio-visual quality of the band for the very first time”, the band states, referring to the phalanx of video screens and specially curated visuals corresponding to each song. One of those rare performances, the one at the Kulturkirche Altona in Hamburg, was captured on film and tape and is now being released. More an elegant silent film (visually speaking) than an ordinary live video, Long Distance Calling deliver a stunning performance in two acts: A “normal” Long Distance Calling set with songs from all their albums, and a special ‘Avoid the Light’ set, performing the dramatic album almost in its entirety. “This is one of the most important releases of our entire career”, the band continues, “and playing it felt like time travel.” Meticulously prepared and rehearsed, this is Long Distance Calling on another level. Backed by guest musicians Luca Gilles on cello and Aaron Schrade on percussion and electronic beats, the experimental rock veterans show their grandeur in cinemascope – elaborately filmed and monumentally staged. In the end, Janosch Rathmer (drums), Jan Hoffmann (bass), Florian Füntmann (guitar) and David Jordan (guitar) not only played their biggest Hamburg headlining show; they also peaked their stellar career.

Two-time Grammy-nominated and millions-selling progressive music titans Dream Theater have just released an animated video for the song “Barstool Warrior.” The track comes from their recently released album Distance Over Time (InsideOutMusic / Sony Music) which was met with critical and fan acclaim worldwide. The song has become a live show favorite and tells the fictional story of a man and a woman reflecting on their life decisions.

“’Barstool Warrior’ is a fictional tale about two characters, unrelated but connected in their lament over being stuck in dead end situations.

The first is a local townie, alcoholic who never escaped the humdrum of his sleepy, maritime village. The second, a woman trapped in an abusive relationship trying to survive from day to day while questioning what makes her stay. Both are able to reimagine their lives and find the courage to embrace a better future by embodying the person they dream of being,” explains guitarist John Petrucci.

The video for the song can be seen here: https://youtu.be/x9b-Qc8e_vk.

Dream Theater recently announced the next leg of the acclaimed The Distance Over Time Tour – Celebrating 20 Years of Scenes From A Memory. The first leg of tour gathered plenty of critical acclaim and fan praise due in large part to the diverse setlist the band created. The band featured tracks from their latest release Distance Over Time and selections from their 30-year career along with a nightly celebration of the 20th Anniversary of their seminal concept album Metropolis Part 2: Scenes From A Memory that the band performed in its entirety. The next leg of the tour will kick off at the end of September and run through mid-November. The 27-date trek will see the band making stops in Louisville, KY; Cleveland, OH; Baltimore, MD; Long Island, NY; and San Jose, CA to name a few. Information on tickets for all upcoming shows as well as VIP packages can be found at www.dreamtheater.net.

The world has now had a chance to experience the latest release, Distance Over Time. After landing at the #1 spot on the iTunes Top Album Chart the day it was released, the album has gone on to be an instant classic among fans and critics alike. The album landed at #5 on the Top Current Album Chart and debuted at #24 on the Billboard 200. The band also garnered over 10 million total streams for Distance Over Time through release week, a career high for the band in the streaming age. The album also reached number 1 in the German & Swiss album charts, as well as top 10 positions across Europe.

The latest addition to Dream Theater’s impressive catalog is now available to purchase in various configurations including a new deluxe version featuring a Blu-Ray disc containing videos for every song on the album at: https://dream-theater.lnk.to/DistanceOverTime.

Guitar World placed the follow-up Awake at #1 on “Superunknown: 50 Iconic Albums That Defined 1994. 1996’s A Change of Seasons notably soundtracked NBC’s coverage of Downhill Skiing at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Progressive rock legends THE FLOWER KINGS are pleased to announce the release of their brand new studio double-album ‘Waiting For Miracles’ on the 8th November 2019. The album is comprised of 15 new tracks, recorded over the summer at RMV studio in Stockholm, Sweden – a vintage studio space owned by ABBA star Benny Andersson.

Band leader Roine Stolt comments: “We have gone back to the joyful and playful style that made the band famous in the late 90’s. So here ‘more’ is always ‘more’! At time the lyrics have a bit of a serious concern about the state of our world, but overall the theme is full of joy and colour.”

The band, currently comprised of Roine Stolt, Jonas Reingold, Hasse Fröberg, Zach Kamins & Mirko DeMaio (the most recent live line-up), have crafted an adventurous collection of pure prog-rock. Expect boat-loads of vintage keyboards, odd time signatures and long guitar solos – with elements of pop, symphonic and cinematic music.

The album will be released as a 2CD, Gatefold 2LP + 2CD & as digital album, featuring beautiful artwork by American artist Kevin Sloan. Find the full track-listing below:

Disc 1:

  1. House Of Cards
  2. Black Flag
  3. Miracles For America
  4. Vertigo
  5. The Bridge
  6. Ascending To The Stars
  7. Wicked Old Symphony
  8. The Rebel Circus
  9. Sleep With The Enemy
  10. The Crowning Of Greed

Disc 2:

  1. House Of Cards Reprise
  2. Spirals
  3. Steampunk
  4. We Were Always Here
  5. Busking At Brobank

The Flower Kings also recently announced they would be heading out on tour this December with label-mates KAYAK. Roine Stolt: “We’re happy to go on tour in Europe again in December – We will present The Flower Kings music from the early days – concert favourites – plus some brand new music – that is along the lines of the early music of the band – symphonic rock. We’re happy to bring our friends in KAYAK along for this proggy double bill – it will be a monumental meltdown of melodic prog – not to be missed.”

The two bands will perform 12 dates across 6 countries, and you find the full list of shows below, tickets on sale now:

The Flower Kings started as an outlet for guitarist/singer/composer Roine Stolt in 1994 – a time when prog-rock wasn’t mere history, nor a dirty word. The band quickly gained momentum and was one of a handful of bands helping to revive the progressive rock scene worldwide. Roine has since collaborated with a host of legendary musicians across various projects, including his acclaimed 2015 album with Yes-legend Jon Anderson, progressive-rock supergroup Transatlantic alongside Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy & Pete Trewavas, and a year as bass player with Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett. The Flower Kings however, has always felt like home for Roine and the other band veterans Jonas Reingold & Hasse Fröberg.

Labyrinth was the perfect song to do with this musical embellishment as it’s a pretty epic piece with little bit of everything that makes SOA who we are.

About Steve Hackett:

Steve Hackett gained an international reputation as the guitarist in the classic 1970s Genesis line-up alongside Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins. Steve’s work was a key element of most acclaimed Genesis albums including Selling England by the Pound and The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway.

With his solo career spanning more than 30 albums, Steve is renowned as both an immensely talented and innovative rock musician and a virtuoso classical guitarist and composer. This was recognised in 2010 when he was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. He has also worked alongside Steve Howe of YES in the supergroup GTR.

Steve has an extraordinary versatility with both electric and acoustic guitar and his compositions take influences from many genres, including jazz, classical and blues. His most recent studio works The Night Siren (2017) and At The Edge Of Light (2019) have also seen Steve exploring the influences of world music.

2019 is a busy year for Steve. Following the success of the orchestral tour Steve released his 25th studio album At The Edge Of Light in January. He and the band then embarked on the Selling England/Spectral Mornings Tour across Europe and the USA before they return for 20 dates in the UK in November. This tour marks the first time Steve has performed the whole of his favourite Genesis album Selling England By The Pound together with Steve’s favourite songs from his solo Spectral Mornings album, celebrating its 40th anniversary, and tracks from his current album.

The bands self-titled debut was recently released, and they are pleased to reveal their first ever live date, taking place at RosFest 2020 alongside Big Big Train on the 9th May.John Boegehold comments: “RoSfest has a great history and reputation so we’re all excited to be playing there in 2020, especially since it’s the first gig we’ve lined up!”Today they also launch a drum play-through from Jimmy Keegan of the track ‘No Land’s Man’, and you can watch that here: https://youtu.be/m6-U0jQJe0Y Watch a lyric video for ‘No Burden Left To Carry’ here: https://youtu.be/MZdqFcmjb9w Listen to the single ‘The Same Mistakes Again’ here: https://youtu.be/M2Rf349ktmU Watch the official video for ‘No One Ever Died and Made Me King’ here:https://youtu.be/wl7hYwca0uw The album has already been receiving great reviews, find a few of them below:“shiny and soulful but spiky symphonic prog” – Prog Magazine“a strong album with top-notch performances from some of the best players in the prog world” – Sonic Perspectives“this album is a must have.” – Progressive Music PlanetOriginally a vehicle for a few tracks John had been working on in early 2018, he quickly came up with enough music to work towards producing an album. With that in mind, he enlisted the talents of Jimmy Keegan (drums & vocals), Ted Leonard (vocals & guitar) & Dave Meros (bass), with Boegehold handling all the synths. He adds: “Besides live strings on a few songs and a female backing vocalist on another, it was all done between the four of us with Dave and Ted ending up as co-writers on some of the material.”With the band obviously being closely associated with Spock’s Beard, John was conscious of exploring different avenues with Pattern-Seeking Animals, whether it was song structures, vocal arrangements, synth sounds or emotional textures. “Pattern-Seeking Animals was a clean slate so I found myself drawing on a few different musical influences and using some contemporary production ideas and sounds that I probably wouldn’t use with SB for various reasons.”The album will be released on limited CD digipak, gatefold 2LP + CD & as digital album. Order now here: https://patternseekinganimals.lnk.to/PatternSeekingAnimals The track-listing is as follows:1. No Burden Left To Carry2. The Same Mistakes Again3. Orphans Of The Universe4. No One Ever Died And Made Me King5. Fall Away6. These Are My Things7. We Write The Ghost Stories8. No Land’s Man9. Stars Along The WayAs John notes, as the project came together it quickly became apparent that they would want to take this material out live: “Originally it was intended to be a recording project but as it was coming together we started talking seriously about doing it as a live band. Because of the complexity of a lot of the material, it’ll require an additional musician or two to pull it off live. The plan is to tour as much as possible and to come out with a new album at least once a year. In fact, work on the second album is already well under way.”PATTERN-SEEKING ANIMALS online:http://PSAnimals1.com http://Facebook.com/psanimals1 https://twitter.com/psanimals1https://www.instagram.com/psanimals1/INSIDEOUTMUSIC online:http://www.insideoutmusic.comhttps://www.facebook.com/InsideOutMusichttps://twitter.com/InsideOutUSA http://www.youtube.com/InsideOutMusicTV

Jon Courtney & Chloë Alper have reunited the much-loved Pure Reason Revolution, playing their first show in close to 8 years at the recent Midsummer Prog Festival in the Netherlands, and performing their debut album ‘The Dark Third’ in full. They comment: “The festival & crowd reaction was incredible. We were touched that people had travelled from Canada, Russia, Italy, Spain, UK & many more countries. The tracks are exciting as ever to play & it’s encouraging to see the material still has relevance & connects.”

The band have also revealed they are working on a brand new studio album, and have signed to InsideOutMusic for its release in 2020. Jon Courtney comments: “We’re currently working on material for the new album which returns to a more progressive sound & it’s nice to remind ourselves of the genesis of PRR” while Chloë adds: “it’s sounding spectacular.”

Pure Reason Revolution originally parted ways in November 2011, following touring in support of their 2010 album Hammer & Anvil. Since then, Jon Courtney started Bullet Height and released their debut album ‘No Atonement’ in 2017, while Chloë Alper began a new band called Tiny Giant as well as playing live with the likes of Charli XCX & James.

The band originally formed back in 2003, releasing their much-loved debut album ‘The Dark Third’ in 2006 via Sony BMG. They went on to release the albums ‘Amor Vincit Omnia’ in 2009 & ‘Hammer & Anvil’ in 2010.
